Prior to joining Catapult in 2001, Phil served as President and COO for NetClerk, Inc., a business-to-government software company he co-founded in 1998. NetClerk was one of the first software vendors to fully embrace the SaaS model, launching its service the same year as Salesforce.com. At NetClerk, Phil helped grow the company to 70 employees and over 600 enterprise customers prior to selling the business to Chicago-based BidClerk, Inc.
Prior to NetClerk, Phil worked as an equity analyst at Pequot Capital Management, a $4 billion investment management firm based in Westport, Connecticut. At Pequot, Phil covered the Software, Internet and IT Services industries. While he was at Pequot, the firm grew into the largest technology-focused hedge fund in the world.
Phil began his career as a corporate finance analyst in Morgan Stanley’s East Coast Technology Group in New York. At Morgan Stanley, Phil worked on several industry-defining transactions, including capital raises for Netscape, AOL and Avid Technology, and M&A advisory assignments for EDS and BSG Corp. During Phil’s tenure at Morgan Stanley, the firm consistently sat atop the league tables for both M&A and IPOs within the technology sector.
Phil was born in Montreal and received his BA degree cum laude in History and English from Williams College.
Phil enjoys working on his inconsistent golf game, basketball and hiking the Bay Area trails with his family. He lives in Belmont with his wife and two children.
