- Demonstrated Intel’s commitment to TV-internet convergence.
- Avtrex product and team were critical for realizing the vision of a connected digital living room.
Overview
On March 9, 2012, Intel acquired Avtrex, a provider of embedded software for TV-internet convergence.
Avtrex had initially tried to market itself to buyers; when the process stalled, they hired Catapult Advisors.

Significance
Catapult’s role
- Marketed Avtrex to a variety of potential buyers not limited to Consumer Electronics manufacturers: buyers list included service providers, communications IC vendors and interactive TV companies.
- Negotiated complex issues surrounding customer contracts and Intellectual Property.
- Negotiated a final price that was double the level of initial price talk.
“Catapult helped Avtrex achieve a great outcome despite the fact that we have a non-traditional business model and didn’t fit the normal criteria for a successful M&A assignment. The Catapult team did an excellent job of keeping the buyer honest, while making sure that we remained focused on the big picture.”
