San Francisco-Based Scout Labs Raises New Round of Funding

San Francisco — Scout Labs, a San Francisco-based developer of social media monitoring and analysis tools, said that it has raised an undisclosed amount in a new round of funding from new investors El Dorado Ventures and Javelin Venture Partners, as well as previous backer Minor Ventures. The company said that it will use the proceeds to fund its marketing and sales efforts. Jed Katz, managing director of Javelin Venture Partners, and Tom Peterson, a general partner at El Dorado Ventures, both will join the company’s board of directors, which also includes Halsey Minor, the founder of CNET who was the largest shareholder in Salesforce.com. Scout Labs’ web-based application is designed to give clients better visibility into social media such as blogs, social networks, image-sharing sites, video-sharing sites and Twitter.
